Born in vilage of turkey Batman in 1987, Şehmus Kaçan completed his primary and secondary education in Batman in 2004. He graduated from Kayseri Erciyes University, Faculty of Letters, Turkish Language and Literature in 2006. His love of writing, which started at a young age, started in 2007 when he met the calligrapher Mümtaz Durdu Bey in Istanbul. The artist, residing in Istanbul, continues her work with her students in the "Meşk Room" in the Koca Sinan Pasha Madrasa in Beyazıt.
